“You know,” said George, trying to shove more cheese poofs into his mouth than I’m sure was even legal, “you really are a sick person.”

“Thanks, George, you make me feel better.  I’m glad to have you as my friend.”

“I know.  I’m a life saver.”  I was currently sick and lying on the couch, feeling like my very body was disintegrating from the inside out.  George had come over to “cheer me up” and “make me feel better.”  I’m almost 100% certain he was just here to exploit my satellite TV.

“And I wasn’t being literal, just so you know,” he added.  This surprised me.

“I didn’t even know you knew the word literal, let alone had the brains to be anything but,” I said, monotone and sarcastic, except I almost meant it.

“Don’t sound all smart.  I hate it when you sound all smart.”

“I wonder why,” I replied.

“It’s all Céleste’s fault.”

And that, my friends, was when I, for the first time, was totally speechless from something George had said.

“Céleste shows up and suddenly you become this sniveling… thing, always desperate for her attention, acceptance, admiration.  You use those big words just to try and match her, you’re always trying to spend time with her, ya know?  It’s sick.”

“Well excuse me for—“

“Being in love?  That what you were going to say?”

“Well—”

“No.  ‘Cuz Céleste also turned you into a coward.”

I didn’t know what was happening.  George had always been that cool, laidback kinda guy, you know?  He was the guy I could just hang with, without all the expectations and confusion that came with hanging out with Céleste and her friends.  He was my best friend in that he was the only friend I could hang out with on the weekends and not have to talk.

“Where are you going with this, George?”

“It’s just…”  He sighed, which was weird.  “You’re not the only one with problems, ya know?   Not the only one who’s confused and hurt and ignored and… not the only one trying to win someone over.”

“And you are?”

He looked at me, long and hard, and it made me nervous.  Finally he said, “No, Zach.  I’m not.  Because I know that, either way, it’s not gonna work.  I’ve taken a step back and seen it.  You wanna try that sometime?”  And with that he stormed upstairs and I heard the door slam behind him.

He also took my cheese poofs, the bastard.
This is to show that I am writing. Really I am. Stop looking at me like that.

Anyway, first things first. This is a ficfic, meaning that none if this really happened or is ever going to happen in the IRL story.

And, second things second, if you think you see some ninja-slash there, oh yeah. It's totally there. And right now it's in the process of throwing a shuriken in your back. Whoops, there it goes. You're dead now.

And, third things third, ... I adore George. The fact that he was named after my left foot might have a little to do with it, but besides that... <3~~~

I'm at Dad's house now. I'll get back to Their Story soon as it's Thursday.

Also, hey, this is for you guys, for winning the contest. You know who you are.

<EDIT>
OH WAIT THERE'S A TYPO HERE LET ME FIX IT.
</EDIT>
<EDIT2>
OH DAMN I CAN'T FIX IT. OH WELL I'LL DO IT LATERZ.
