Dear Journal,

Dear Journal, dear journal,
Here is what I did today.
I snacked on chips
And looked at billboards.
I danced in front of a
White window.
I wished that I had money
To buy a suede-bound book.
I watched the prices on ink cartridges go up.
I listened to the gun say, “Bang Bang,”
And the butterfly say, “Catch me Catch me.”
I wrote and wished and thought
And wrote some more.
Then I bought the suede-bound book
And watched as my leather wallet starved itself.
I found gum on the side walk
And fed it to leaves.
I saw a birdhouse that wasn’t pretty any more.
I drank coffee when I shouldn’t have,
Ate ice cream when I wanted to,
Wrote in this journal,
And all in all, I had a day.
